Course overview
This course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding relating to end of life care. It covers a range of topics including the support needed to manage pain and discomfort, how dementia impacts on end of life care, the role of the care worker at time of death, and the loss and grief process.
What will I do?
The course comprises of 6 units:
- Unit 1 – Understand how to work in end of life care
- Unit 2 – Care planning in end of life care
- Unit 3 – Understand how to provide support to manage pain and discomfort
- Unit 4 – End of life care and dementia
- Unit 5 – Understanding the role of the care worker at time of death
- Unit 6 – Understand loss and grief in end of life care
*Funding is subject to learners meeting set eligibility criteria; this may be discussed prior to the start of any course. Learners must be aged 19+ and have lived in the EU for the past three years. Please note that a withdrawal fee of £90 is payable if learners decide to withdraw from the course

How much will I have to study each week?
The course duration is 10 weeks, and requires 4-6 hours of study per week. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme of study within the allocated timescale.
What kind of qualification is this?
Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of End of Life Care is awarded by TQUK.
How will I be assessed?
The course requires two assessments to be completed and passed to achieve the qualification. Students are allocated a tutor who will mark their assessments, and can be contacted by telephone or email if required.
