Course overview

Sport is arguably the most dominant industry in the world today. The Olympics, the FIFA World Cup, Wimbledon and the Masters Tournament are just some of the sporting events that grip the attention of the globe and boost the economy through tourism, merchandise, advertising and TV rights. With a growing awareness of personal health and fitness, there has never been a better time to join the industry.

What will I do?

This course will help you develop the academic knowledge and skills to help you progress to the next level of study.

Covering a wide range of topics, you will get a taste of life in the industry, enabling you to develop your employability skills as well as your professionalism. You will also take on work experience opportunities with local companies and schools.

What’s next?

This course is the ideal starting point to help you progress to study an Advanced sports course, whether it’s Sports Studies, Football Studies, Personal Training or Leadership Academy. You could also progress to study Public Services if that’s where your passion lies. Careers you could progress into range from: Sports therapist, PE teacher, sports scientist, sports psychologist and many more.

Whether you dream of coaching a Premier League team, want to help people feel better about themselves, or want to get children into your favourite sport, a qualification in sports could help you reach your goal. You must be an excellent verbal and written communicator and have excellent organisational skills.

Entry requirements

You require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above including English or Maths.

Once we have received your application you will be invited to a programme interview which will give you the chance to ask any questions you have about the course and for us to discuss which level you are most suited to based on your current / predicted results. 

If you meet the entry requirements you will be enrolled on our Level 2 programme where you will gain a specialist qualification in your chosen area. If you don’t quite meet the entry requirements for Level 2 you will be enrolled onto our Skills Academy programme. Skills Academy gives you the opportunity to pick up essential study stills whilst still gaining technical knowledge in your chosen area. On completion of this course you will gain a Vocational Studies Certificate which will enable you to progress onto a full Level 2 specialist programme.
