What will I do?

The course includes 4 x modules studied over 30 weeks: Core behaviours for people professionals; Business, culture and change in context and Principles of analytics.

There is also a comprehensive unit covering the Essentials of people practice.

Classes start in mid-September on Wednesday/Thursday evenings between 5.15pm and 8.45pm or if studying through the day is better for you, we are enrolling students for a Thursday daytime course between school hours. There will also be an evening class starting in January so there are very flexible options for you.

What’s next?

This qualification is the entry level to the profession and employers do like their HR professionals to have this qualification.

You will learn the foundations of HR and People practice and with experience can progress to CIPD L5 Associate Diploma in People Management.

As you progress to more strategic roles in the profession, you may then wish to consider the CIPD L7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management.

Is it for me?

Our students are motivated and keen to learn. Some students will have many years’ experience and just need the qualification to progress in their career, others may be considering a career change into HR and want to learn more. Our students are all ages and backgrounds, and we will help support everyone in their studies. What everyone shares is a passion for delivery of effective HR that contributes to business success.

Our delivery is hybrid and although most sessions are delivered face to face at our Chaffron Way campus, we do hold some remotely using our Teams platform. This gives us flexibility and helps build confidence in using digital learning technology.

entry requirements

There are no specific educational qualifications as such. You need to be confident of writing business assignment.

We offer plenty of support to help you develop your writing skills, so no need to worry if that is something you have not done before.

If English is not your first language, you may need to demonstrate written and spoken skills at least at ESOL L2/3, and we may ask you to do a short-written test prior to you being offered a place.

What is more important is that you have some HR experience or administration experience involving working with other people.

How will I be assessed?

Each of the 4 modules will be assessed through an assignment focused on the learning outcomes for the module. Typically, around 2,500-3,000 words it could be a case study, a presentation with notes, some practical elements or written report.

How much will I have to study each week?

You will need to be sure you can commit the time for independent study outside of taught sessions and that will vary depending on your level of knowledge, but you should expect to be able to commit to at least several hours a week outside class (more for assignment preparation) for your research.
