Course overview
Whether you belong on the screen, or getting creative behind the scenes, studying performing arts will prepare you for any audition or curtain call. You’ll have the opportunity to take on a variety of roles, and not just the ones on stage. Try your hand at directing, writing, choreographing, set design and much more. Studying performing arts will prepare you for the reality of working in the industry, including the requirement to be versatile, passionate and determined to grow your talents.
UAL Level 3 Diploma and Extended Diploma in Performing Arts & Production (Acting)
What will I do?
The programme of study gives you an opportunity to work with specialist practitioners and build upon previous performance skills. The course is delivered through practical sessions, rehearsals and performances as well as conducting research, reflecting and evaluating your process. This course offers you a chance to be an innovative individual who is free to create and express your passion for the arts whether it’s through being an actor in film, TV or theatre, a playwriter, creative writer, drama therapist, choreographer, movement coach or director, the course offers you many different exciting avenues to pursue. You’ll cover:
• Knowledge of acting principles and explore a variety of acting styles
• How to devise a performance piece
• Acting for TV, film and audio
• Movement skills, choreography and physical theatre
• Puppetry and mask workshops
• Singing skills for actors
• Theatre practitioners, genres and styles
• Live project work with industry practitioners
What’s next?
Performing Arts doesn’t quite fit the usual mould when it comes to education or career progression as there are a huge variety of paths you can go down which will take you to different places. Upon completion of your course, you could choose to apply to drama schools studying your specialism, you could head to university, or head straight out into the industry with auditions or junior positions such as a stagehand.

Entry requirements
You require 4 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English Language and a performing arts related subject.
Do i need to purchase anything?
You will need access to a computer or digital device.
Items you will need to purchase as part of this course include:

- Black jazz shoes (approx. £15.75)
How will my progress be monitored?
As well as written feedback following assessments, Students are given feedback throughout their practical sessions and encouraged to document and reflect on all feedback given in a reflective logbook.
How will i be assessed?
Assessments and completion of units will be through performance projects and workshops with weekly sessions in acting, movement and voice. There are 8 units in Year 1 to develop your skills with 4 longer units in Year 2 where you will have opportunity to develop your skills further and apply them to your area of focus.
