INTRODUCTION

Doing new things on your own can be difficult and maybe even a bit scary when you’re not confident that what you’re doing is correct. This course will help you in communicating with other people, learning how to manage and handle your money and even working out what kind of job you’d like to do. Being fully independent covers a lot of different areas of your life – this course will build your skills and confidence in all of them.

PLEASE NOTE: Our Inclusive Learning courses are for those with learning disabilities or Education, Health and Care Plans.

What will I do?

Things you will do on this course include preparing for the world of work; managing and handling finances; learning about staying healthy, including exercise and nutrition; communicating with others and much more. You will get first-hand experience of the world of work through our student shop, Inclusively Yours. You will also be able to take advantage of the sports and IT facilities across the College.

What’s next?

On achieving your qualifications, you may choose to progress to study a different subject at College. Alternatively, you could progress onto the New Horizons course, which is ideal for you if your main aim is to move onto a Level 1 course, but perhaps you’re not quite ready yet. You will learn what academic work will be expected of you, start to adapt to the College lifestyle and the new surroundings. You could also move on to a Supported Internship.

Is it for me?

If you are aged 16-24 years old, have special educational needs or require a supported learning environment and have an interest in preparing for the world of work, then this course is ideal for you.
