Jobs in engineering are globally in demand. Engineers create, test, and build, incorporating innovation, logic and purpose into their work.
From the humble beginnings of the wheel and the lever, right up to aircrafts and dams, engineering has shaped the world we live in and continues to do so. Engineers have the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of people and society, bringing responsibility and reward to those who can innovate, create and succeed in the profession.
What will I do?
Benefit from a range of local and international trip opportunities, extensive work experience and excellent facilities within our Innovation & Technology Centre. From personal study skills, to getting to grips with equipment and different software, you will get used to working within workshops and IT suites. Supported by experienced and dedicated tutors, you will take on a variety of projects which will enable you to develop a wide range of skills. Health & safety will be at the forefront of everything you do, as equipment you’ll be working with is industry standard.
What’s next?
This course will prepare you to take the next step up to study Engineering Advanced or specialise in Aeronautical Engineering.

This is no ordinary 9-5 industry, and you must be dedicated to continually growing your skillset. You should be a natural problem solver and logical thinker, always thinking of new ways to look at problems.
Entry requirements
Level 1: 4 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above.
Level 2: 4 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English or Maths with the other at grade 3/D.
Once we have received your application you will be invited to a programme interview which will give you the chance to ask any questions you have about the course and for us to discuss which level you are most suited to based on your current / predicted results.
If you meet the entry requirements you will be enrolled on our Level 2 programme where you will gain a specialist qualification in your chosen area. If you don’t quite meet the entry requirements for Level 2 you will be enrolled onto our Skills Academy programme. Skills Academy gives you the opportunity to pick up essential study stills whilst still gaining technical knowledge in your chosen area. On completion of this course you will gain a Vocational Studies Certificate which will enable you to progress onto a full Level 2 specialist programme.
