Level 3 Award in Education and Training
INTRODUCTION
Are you looking for a career in post 16 education? This is your first step.
This engaging course is for those who currently work in or wish to pursue a teaching career in the post 16 or adult learning sector. You will develop those skills needed to be effective in teaching, learning and assessment.
What will I do?
The course is an 11 week programme that covers topics such as:

- Assessment in Education and Training
In Week 10, you will be asked to complete a 15 minute microteach to your peers. You will never forget your Microteach delivery in Week 10, it is one of the most rewarding experiences in your Teacher Education.
- Learning from other people on the course will broaden your knowledge of different contexts.
- Delivery from highly qualified, experience practitioners.
- On-going support from your Tutor across the 11 weeks.
What’s next?
On completion of your Level 3 qualification, you may progress to complete the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training or the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training.
These qualifications will ensure you become a fully qualified post 16 Teacher. These are also courses offered at Milton Keynes College Group.
Is it for me?
This one year course is aimed at mature students (19+) who wish to develop their creative practice (both practical and academic) and aspire to progress to a degree level qualification, either at Milton Keynes College (HNC/D) or a university.
Students embarking on this course will be expected to be driven independent learners who are able to study at level 3. You will need to be capable of working as a team and demonstrate appropriate academic writing in your assignment submission.
As the course is only 11 weeks, it is fast paced and will require driven, motivated individuals.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should provide positive reference or recommendation from their employer and demonstrate a commitment to how the course will help with their teaching endeavours.
Grade 2 or above in English and/or Maths recommended but not essential.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
You will be required to complete three assignments. Within each assignment there are three tasks. You will also be asked to deliver a 15 minute Microteach.
HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE MONITORED?
Progress will be monitored by a mix of formative and summative assessment.
WHAT LEVEL IS THIS QUALIFICATION?
This is a Level 3 qualification and is delivered over 11 weeks.
HOW MUCH WILL I HAVE TO STUDY EACH WEEK?
3 hours per week. Thursday evenings 6pm until 9pm.
