LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATE IN UNDERSTANDING SAFEGUARDING AND PREVENT
What will I do?
In 2017, there were 412 arrests for terrorism-related offences. With issues of human rights, hate crime and democracy becoming ever more prevalent in the UK and the world, it is more important than ever to be informed on the measures that can be taken to help prevent terrorism and promote safeguarding and British Values in society.
This course will equip learners with a detailed understanding of how to recognise and prevent radicalisation and extremism, the principles of safeguarding, the Prevent duty and its importance in society, and the importance of online safety and British Values.
The course comprises 4 units:
- Unit 1 – Principles of safeguarding
- Unit 2 – The importance of British Values
- Unit 3 – The Prevent duty and its importance in society
- Unit 4 – The importance of online safety
*Funding is subject to learners meeting set eligibility criteria; this may be discussed prior to the start of any course. Learners must be aged 19+ and have lived in the EU for the past three years. Please note that a withdrawal fee of £90 is payable if learners decide to withdraw from the course.
By undertaking this course, you will gain formal recognition by obtaining a nationally recognised qualification. This will enable you to further your own continuous professional development, which could support you in improving your career prospects. You can also progress onto further qualifications.
Is it for me?
This course is ideal for learners who wish to increase their awareness and understanding of the issues surrounding Prevent, including radicalisation, extremism, propaganda, social media, and the promotion of British Values, such as democracy and the rule of law. Individuals will also learn more about safeguarding and the legislation relating to it.
The course duration is 6 weeks and requires three to four hours of study per week. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme

· Personal tutors are assigned to you to ensure you have the support needed to succeed
HOW MUCH WILL I HAVE TO STUDY EACH WEEK?
The course duration is 6 weeks and will requires approximately 4 – 6 hours of study per week plus the submission of 4 online assessments during the course. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme within the allocated timescale.
WHAT KIND OF QUALIFICATION IS THIS?
Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Safeguarding and Prevent is awarded by CACHE.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
This course requires the completion and passing of four short tutor marked online unit assessments. Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to offer support through the online learning platform.
ARE THERE ANY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
All applicants must be at least 19 years of age to enrol for the course and have a good level of English skills to a minimum of Level One standard. Applicants aged 19-23 are only eligible if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
Please contact us for clarification if required. Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but do need to meet the required standard of English skills.
Applicants must have lived in the EU for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of London, Greater Manchester, Liverpool City, Cambridge & Peterborough, Tees Valley, and the West Midlands. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.
These courses are free for eligible applicants who successfully complete the course. A fee of £90 will be charged to learners who enrol onto the programme but do not complete the course.
