What will I do?
The best way for you to learn how prepare for an event and serve a range of dishes, is to do just that. You will experience life in a restaurant at The Brasserie, our award-winning, on-site restaurant which is open to the general public. You will try your hand at everything from serving customers to crafting bespoke menus. From barista training to customer service, you will experience all different areas of the industry and receive first class support from our highly-experienced tutors, who will share their contacts and links with you ready for you to take your career forward.
There will also be exciting opportunities to visit the likes of the Hospitality, Restaurant and Catering Show in London, The Exclusive Academy and a local vineyard, participate in an annual student hotel take over, and gain valuable work experience on external events such as; weddings and awards evenings.
What’s next?
The next step after completing your Level 2 Hospitality Intermediate course would be to study at Level 3 in Hospitality and Supervision either as a full time course or apprenticeship to develop your knowledge further. Previous Level 3 students have gone on to work at prestigious restaurants such as Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons, The Savoy, The Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva and The Lanesborough Hotel. You could use your work experience and contacts to step into a role at a restaurant, hotel or with a catering company. With the average person entering into a managerial role within hospitality before they are 30, opportunities for progression after College are great.
Is it for me?
You must be able to take direction and work as a team, often in heated (literally) environments where you have a tight deadline to work to. You will also have a chance to try out different roles, to find what suits you. You must be a logical thinker, be reactive to situations and want to work with the public. You will have chances to enter national competitions, create your own dishes and menus, and gain the relevant skills and experience to help you stand out from the rest.
