INTRODUCTION

From finance and HR, to digital marketing and entrepreneurship, there is no denying that the business sector is digitally-focused, versatile and vital to society. Business qualifications encompass a broad selection of essential topics, offering transferable skills such as leadership, problem-solving and communication. They require commitment, passion and most of all the determination to succeed.

What will I do

This intermediate course will support you to develop your understanding of the world of Business, and allow you to learn about some of the different sectors in preparation for studying at Level 3 or as an apprentice. Topics you will cover range from bookkeeping to creating marketing plans, to developing personal leadership skills and financial forecasting. Depending on your ability, you will be expected to carry out work experience up to 35 hours over the year.

What’s next?

You will be supported to progress in your studies and in your career. Completing this qualification will open the door to studying Business at Level 3 or as an apprentice.

From study skills and self-confidence to working out what your pathway into Business might look like, our dedicated staff will be on hand to guide you in the right direction. You must have an interest in how the world of Business works, and be able to demonstrate this.  

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Level 1: You need to have achieved your Entry 3 in English or Maths or provide clear evidence that you are working at Level 1 in English and Maths.

Level 2: You require a 3/D or above in English & Maths plus evidence that you are working at Level 2.

Once we have received your application you will be invited to a programme interview which will give you the chance to ask any questions you have about the course and for us to discuss which level you are most suited to based on your current / predicted results. 

If you meet the entry requirements you will be enrolled on our Level 2 programme where you will gain a specialist qualification in your chosen area. If you don’t quite meet the entry requirements for Level 2 you will be enrolled onto our Skills Academy programme. Skills Academy gives you the opportunity to pick up essential study stills whilst still gaining technical knowledge in your chosen area. On completion of this course you will gain a Vocational Studies Certificate which will enable you to progress onto a full Level 2 specialist programme.

How many days will I be in college?

You will be timetabled to attend Lessons on 3 days and will spend up to 16.5 hours in the classroom. The other 2 days each week will consist of work experience, enhancements and additional learning designed to support your wider success on the Study Programme—you may be required to attend College or a Work Experience placement in addition to your normal Timetabled days.

do i need to purchase anything?

You will need normal stationery. Computers are available in College with all specialist software installed—an Office 365 account will be provided
including OneDrive cloud storage.

how will my progress be monitored?

Your progress is monitored through regular one to one Progress Reviews, regular assignments and project work. You will have a Learning Coach who will support you with your studies in a weekly workshop. English and Maths progress will be monitored with regular mock exams and in class targets.
