Course overview

This qualification is ideal for anyone seeking to improve their personal health and well-being. You will gain knowledge of how exercise and nutrition positively affect long-term health while learning to create and implement a personalised exercise and nutrition plan.

What will I do?

This course combines theory-based learning with practical elements and coursework-based assessments. You will study three key units:

  • Unit 1: Understand Health, Well-Being and Exercise
  • Unit 2: Understand the Role of Nutrition in Exercise
  • Unit 3: Plan and Prepare for Personal Exercise and Nutrition

You will develop valuable skills and methods to apply these concepts in real-life situations, providing a strong foundation in fitness and health.

What’s next?

Upon completing this qualification, you could progress to:

  • Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing
  • Level 2 Award/Certificate in Nutrition and Health
  • Level 2 or 3 Certificate/Diploma in Sport

These pathways will help prepare you for a career in fitness, health, or sports.

Is it for me?

This course is designed for individuals aged 18 and over who have a keen interest in health and fitness. It is particularly suitable for students who are able to work independently, as the course includes both online and in-person learning.

You will need to attend:

  • One Monday a month in person (6–9pm)
  • One Monday a month online (6–9pm)
  • One Saturday a month in person (10am–4pm)

In addition, you will be expected to complete five hours of independent study each week.

Your progress will be tracked through regular one-to-one meetings, detailed feedback on assessments, and personalised guidance from tutors.

Assessment will be through coursework-based assignments and some practical observations to demonstrate your knowledge and skills.

We provide guidance to students seeking work experience and have industry links to help you connect with relevant opportunities.
