Frequently asked questions
How do I get to college?
We have two main campuses, Chaffron Way and Bletchley. Both campuses have excellent public transport links – see below for travel routes and how you can plan your journey.
What if I need help when I’m in college?
We really hope you settle in straight away, but if you hit a few speed bumps, there will always be someone to talk to. Make a note of the contacts below, and you’ll always have someone to turn to. Here at Milton Keynes College, we also work with the Youth Counselling Service and have mental health first aiders and safeguarding officers on-site at all times, so you can be assured of your safety whilst at the College.

What should I bring with me on my first day?
This depends on what course you’re doing and if you’ve been instructed to bring in anything specific by your tutor. Make sure you double-check your offer packs and emails for any additional information that you may have been given, but be sure to bring in the usual items like a notepad, some stationery, and a water bottle.
You should also make sure that you’ve got some lunch or some money to buy some. We have ample places on site where you can purchase food from the refectory, The Brasserie, or vending machines. Check out our Bursaries page to see if you’re entitled to free meals.
How do I enrol?
Everyone who has applied and been offered a place will receive an invitation via email to enrol. Make sure you check your junk and spam folders.
What’s the difference between applying and enrolling at college?
Applying means you’re showing interest in a course and securing a potential place.
Enrolling is when you officially accept your place and become a student—this happens after you get your GCSE results.
What apps do I need to download before starting college?
Before your induction day, please download the following apps to your phone from your App Store:
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Microsoft Teams
- MyMKC (College App)
The Digital Learning Team will be available on your induction day to help you log in and get set up with your College accounts. Your Tutor or the team will guide you through connecting your College details.
Do I need to bring in my own laptop?
While studying at MK College, you’ll use various digital tools and applications across all subjects. To access these, we expect all students to bring a laptop to every lesson. If you already own a laptop, please bring it to class.
For those who need a laptop, we have partnered with Easy4U. This program allows you to rent high-quality devices at a low monthly cost, without credit checks, and offers options to purchase. If you prefer to buy a laptop, we can advise on which one would be best. Most of your tasks can be done on basic laptops.
We encourage students to own their devices, but we understand that this isn’t always possible for everyone. If you can’t bring your own device, don’t worry – we have other options such as:
- Short-term Daily Laptop Loans: Available from our self-service lockers.
- Long-term Loans: Devices can be borrowed from our study centres for longer periods, even for the entire duration of your study.
