Music makes a huge contribution to people’s lives and as well as benefiting individuals, also has a global influence. It is used in many areas including performance, therapy, marketing, advertising and film, having a positive effect on the economy, society and our way of life. It forms part of our culture, our history and our future.

What will I do?
Focusing on your chosen instrument, you will improve your technical skills. As well as your technique, opportunities to perform live at a variety of venues will build your confidence as a performer and a musician. You will be supported in your research and study to expand your knowledge of music theory and the technical side of the industry. You can expect to work both in groups and independently on a range of projects designed to support you into progression to an Advanced level of study.
What’s next?
Once you have successfully completed Level 1 in Performance you will have the opportunity to progress on a Level 2 course that will help you define your career aspirations further: Level 2 Music / Level 2 Performing Arts / Level 2 Production. Level 2 will equip you with the technical, performance and creative skills to take the next step to study Music Performance Advanced. On this course, you will take on regular performance opportunities, from showcases to recording studios.

Do you live and breathe music? Have you got all the passion and the love for the subject, and are particularly skilled at either singing or playing a particular instrument? Entry Requirements
Level 1: 4 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above, or an Entry Level 3 qualification on ESOL or equivalent.
Level 2: 4 GCSEs, two at grade 2/E or above and a further two at grade 3/D or above including Music.
Entry requirements: four GCSEs at grade 4/C or above including English Language and a Music related subject.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Assessment is ongoing through workshops, skills building and project work tied to assignment briefs with assessments point throughout the year. There is a Final Major Project at the end of the year in which you will achieve your overall grade for the course.
HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE MONITORED?
Your progress will be monitored on regular basis through 121s with your course team leader and a Progress Mentor assigned to you. In addition, at the end of every brief, you will receive written feedback that outlines what you have done well and areas for you to focus on going forward.
