Course overview

Construction is a lot more than just building, you are making homes for families, schools for children, hospitals for your community, and constantly improving and upgrading them as the industry develops.
What will I do?
Take your first step towards a career as a Electrician in the construction industry with a hands-on electrical installation course that gives you the opportunity to develop all of the basic skills required in the trade. The course combines practical skills and theory so you can expand your knowledge and make good progress towards minimum qualifications or skill levels required for entry into industry.
From Health and Safety in Electrical Installation, to methods, procedures and requirements, to installation craft skills, you will gain all of the essential technical and practical skills to progress to an Advanced level of study. As well as learning about all these topics you will also be given the opportunity for site work experience as part of your course.

Has working in electrical installations sparked your interest? There’s no doubt that you will need both practical and technical skills. Understanding the theory behind what you’re doing is just as important as working with your hands, and you must be able to keep calm under pressure. The Intermediate course will support you in gaining essential study skills and technical knowledge, preparing you to put it to the test at the next level.
Entry requirements
Level 1: You are on track to study at Level 1. You require GCSE English and Maths at Grade 3/D.
Level 2: You are on track to study at Level 2. You require GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above.
How will my progress be monitored?
Through regular assessment and mock exams, progress reviews of Industry Placements and regular one to one review with the Course Team Leader and Progress Mentor.
How much will I have to study each week?
This course will require around 20 hours per week in College plus industrial placement of at least 1 day per week and additional independent study, there will also be 1 day a week of Industry Placement.
Do I need to purchase anything?
We may recommend revision books for purchase during the course and there may be additional costs associated with transport to Industrial Placement and costs of relevant trips.
