INTRODUCTION

This Creative Digital Arts course is the perfect opportunity to try your hand at different disciplines and work out how you want to progress. The perfect stepping stone to study a creative subject at Advanced level, this is where you will be supported to develop your skills and confidence in your ability.

Qualifications within this level:

  • UAL Level 1 Art Design & Media
  • UAL Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design

What will I do?

You will learn how to apply your creativity and artistic skill to a career, building up an impressive portfolio showcasing your work ready for employers. The variety of course content will enable you to let your individuality shine through and experiment with different techniques, styles, and forms of media. You can also experiment with the digitalisation of the arts, learning to use the latest industry-standard technology and software. You can expect to work both independently and in groups, collaborating on projects and working to live briefs from within the industry. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you will have the choice of progressing on to study a specialism, such as Graphic Design or Photography Advanced, where you will further your technical and practical skills in those elements.

What’s next?

Through experimentation, you will find out where your passion and talents lie, whether it’s in a specialism such as photography, moving image or graphic design, or whether you want to continue studying generic art and design. Armed with your up to date portfolio, you could head out into the industry into a junior or assistant position, gathering contacts and experience on your way to the top. You could also continue to build your skills and experience through further study, with a university-level course in your specialism. Here you will gain more intricate and focused skills, and also be able to take on further work placements and experiences.

Is it for me?

It’s important to study what you’re passionate about, otherwise what’s the point? The arts require creativity, dedication, and an open mind. You must be prepared to be flexible, work to tight deadlines, and pay excellent attention to detail. This is the perfect opportunity to try your hand at different disciplines and work out how you want to progress. Communication is key, as is the ability to work to a brief that might not be to your personal taste. You must also be able to market yourself and your work, which you will learn how to do through different platforms on your course. A good grasp of technology is essential, as you will encounter brand new software and equipment that you will need to get to grips with to succeed.
