Welcome to the new academic year from Cat Marin

I’m delighted to welcome you to the MK College family. Since opening our doors in 1982, we have supported thousands of learners to develop skills, gain qualifications and achieve their ambitions; and it’s this sense of community that I am so proud to be a part of.
The start of a new academic year is always an exciting time as it brings fresh opportunities and the chance to build the confidence to succeed. Our commitment to creating Fairer Futures for all means ensuring that all students can thrive, regardless of their background or circumstances. We are focused on helping learners develop not only academically, but also personally and professionally so they are ready for the next stage of their lives: be it an apprenticeship, further study or meaningful employment.
Enrichment matters just as much as the classroom. Our partnerships with employers across the region continue to open up work experience and industry placements helping students build the skills and confidence employers are looking for. We encourage all students to attend regularly, engage fully in their studies so that they make the most of every opportunity available. In return, they can expect high-quality teaching, dedicated support and a college community that is committed to helping them achieve their goals.
Success at college is always strongest when we work together. Last year gave us plenty to celebrate. 517 students who resat their English and maths GCSEs achieved grade 4 or above for example, opening doors to their next steps. Harry, who studied Health and Social Care alongside his maths resit, said the support he received helped him find the confidence to speak up in class and he’s now considering a career in care. Stories like Harry’s and Layal’s are exactly why we do what we do.
We absolutely recognise the important role that families play in a student success. If you have any questions or feedback throughout the year, please get in touch. Our teams are here to support both students and families. Moreover, we will keep you informed about your young person’s progress, college events and opportunities through email, our website and regular communications. We also encourage you to stay connected with college life through our social media channels:

Thank you for choosing MK College. We are excited about the year ahead and look forward to working with you to help create Fairer Futures for all.
