T Levels
T LEVELS AT MK COLLEGE
Welcome to the nexT Level
T Levels are a 2-year qualification that will give you a head start towards your future, bringing classroom learning and an extended industry placement together on a course designed with businesses and employers. Giving you a perfect mix of classroom and real-life training.
What Are T Levels?
Equivalent UCAS points to A Levels – T Levels offer a vocational alternative to courses such as A Levels, BTECs & apprenticeships, allowing students to gain the equivalent amount of UCAS points.
Industry Placement – During their T Level course, students will complete a 45 day or more work placement to equip them with the necessary skills that employers need.
80% Classroom, 20% work – The balance of work done in the classroom and on the job enables students to put their learning into practice, while employers find future talent.
Why choose T Levels?
Designed with Leading Businesses
More than 200 businesses – including Cranfield University and ASHE Construction – have been involved so you can be confident your T Level will move you to the next level.
Awarded UCAS points
Your T Level course will be worth UCAS points – a T Level Distinction* is worth the same as 3 A Levels at A* – and will be recognised by universities and other education providers so you can choose to continue studying if you wish.
Get ahead in your career
T Levels give you the chance to learn what a real career is like while you continue your studies. 20% of your course will be on an industry placement, lasting at least 45 days.

What Are T Levels?

When Do Placements Start?
Placements will start in the first year of the T Level dependent upon student readiness and securing a placement.
Can You Progress To Higher Education Or University With All Of The T Levels?
Yes, they attract UCAS points the same as A Levels and BTECs.
How Long Is The Industry Placement?
An industry placement lasts around 45 days, undertaken as a block or as individual days.
The specific length of the placement and when it takes place will differ depending on your T Level. Typically, your placement will be across 1-2 days per week.
Are There Any Travel Costs?
You will need to fund travel to and from your industry placement.
You may be eligible for a bursary to cover these costs. Find out more.
Are They All Equivalent To 3 A Levels?
Yes. With T Levels, you can gain just as many UCAS points as you would with A Levels. For example, gaining a Distinction* in your T Level is the equivalent of three A* grades at A Level – both will get you 168 UCAS points.
Are The Placements Within Milton Keynes?
Some placements may be outside Milton Keynes (in surrounding areas) but you can choose to focus on applying for placements that suit you and your transport.
When Do Students Find Which Placement They Have? Can They Choose Their Own Employer?
Students can approach employers and if they meet the health & safety, insurance and other criteria we can support the student and the employer to set up an industry placement. The College will also work with employers to provide industry placements that are open for application. Students generally will have to apply for these with a CV and may have an interview to ensure there is a match between the student and the employer.
