MK College colleague achieves marathon milestone

MK College’s Assistant Head of Facilities, Dave Hudson, completed the Boston Marathon on 15th April 2024. After doing so, Dave is now a Six Star finisher, a fantastic milestone named after the medal that’s awarded to runners who complete all six World Marathon Majors.

More than 800 marathons are organised every year, but only six have the title of World Marathon Major: Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon, London Marathon, Berlin Marathon, Chicago Marathon and New York City Marathon. These marathons are some of the most prestigious and sought-after in the world, as amateur and elite athletes race 42.195 km across some of the most famous city streets on earth.

Dave made it around the course in Boston in 2:38:44, coming in at an impressive 373rd place out of the 26,000 runners that started the race.

Dave Hudson said: “I’m proud to say I’m now one of 17,000 people in the world to have completed the six Major marathons and one of about 100 to have an average of below 2:40, my average time being 2:31:31 for the six, with a personal best of 2.26.14 from last year. I’m now going to look out for my next challenge, although I will be at London Marathon next year in the Championship pen with the best club runners in the country.”

Dave has been raising money for Potters Village, a charity that his family have supported for many years which helps support young children in Uganda.
