Eligibility Criteria

To enter the Fairer Futures Prize Draw, you’ll need to meet the following eligibility criteria:  

  • You must be able to provide a valid student ID number.  
  • You must be aged 16 or older and resident in the UK.  
  • You must currently be registered and studying at Milton Keynes College during the 2024/2025 academic year.  

How to Enter

1. Sign up for Santander Open Academy (if not already registered)  

2. Follow the verification link in your confirmation email  

3. Log in and select ‘Get Started’ to complete your entry into the Fairer Futures Prize Draw*  

4. Submit your entry before the draw closes at 11pm on 06 June 2025.

Please note, signing up to the Santander Open Academy does not mean you are automatically entered into the Prize Draw. You need to ensure to apply for the Prize Draw after you have logged into the Santander Open Academy account you have created.

Q1: What is Santander Open Academy?

Santander Open Academy is a free online-learning hub with over 1,000 courses, content, and scholarships annually. With Santander Open Academy, you can boost your knowledge with courses in digital skills, leadership, net zero and more. These are on-demand courses, helping you build the skills you need for the future. Earn credentials and certificates while learning anytime, anywhere and all for free!

It has a range of educational resources and skill-enhancing content in addition to online courses and scholarships. What’s more, you can enhance career prospects and acquire valuable skills that align with the demands of today’s job market.

The only requirement is that you need to be 16 years old or over. You do not need to have a university degree or be a Santander customer to benefit.  

Q2: Who can apply?  

You must currently be registered and studying at Milton Keynes College during the 2024/2025 academic year and be able to provide your student ID number in your application. This includes part-time and full-time students. 

Q3: Do I have to be a Santander customer to apply?  

No, you don’t have to be a Santander customer to apply. 

Q4: Do I have to pay for the MacBook Air or iPads if I win?  

No, if you meet the eligibility criteria, you won’t have to pay for the MacBook Air or iPad if you are a winner. If successful, JS Group will ring-fence your funds specifically to order the item.  

Q5: How do I receive my prize?  

If you’re successful, you’ll need to accept the grant on Santander Open Academy. You can then expect to hear directly from Milton Keynes College who will confirm how you’ll receive your prize via the Santander Aspire webstore (managed by the JS Group). 

Q6: How many times can I apply?

Only one application per student is accepted for this opportunity. 

Q7: How are the winners selected?  

Once entries have closed, Milton Keynes College will select 15 students at random (using an online random-selection platform) and they will be randomly assigned one of the prizes.  

Q8: When will I find out if my entry is successful or not?  

All students will be informed of the outcome of their entry on 16/06/2025 via an email from Santander Open Academy. You can also check the status of your application by viewing the ‘My Learning’ option from the top right menu once you are logged in.

Q9: What is the Santander Aspire webstore and what can I buy if I win the £100 award? 

Successful applicants will be able to use their £100 award to purchase a variety of resources directly from the Santander Aspire webstore. It has a wide range of products and services all designed to support students with their studies and day to day life. Spend the funds on what you want from the store, when you want it. 

There are a wide range of categories to choose from including: Mobile top ups, grocery vouchers, computing, electronics, books and e-books, magazine subscriptions, stationary & office, sport and fitness, art and design, home, and much more!  

Q10: Application Tips for Academic and Professional Data Questions 

The application form for the Fairer Futures Prize Draw has some academic and professional data related questions you need to complete. This information is not used as part of the random selection of winners and is only used to help Santander Open Academy better tailor learning opportunities they may benefit from; therefore, they must be completed to submit your entry to the prize draw.  

Q1: Please select your highest level of education 

Tip: If this is your first year at MK College after finishing school, select the ‘Secondary Education’ option.  

If you have previously completed time at college, please select the ‘Non-university tertiary Education’ option.  

If you have completed a University degree, Master’s degree or have completed a PhD, there are relevant options for these that you can select. 

Q2: Please select the start or most recent year of your current degree/level of education 

Tip: Enter the year that you started the current course you are studying at MK College. 

Q3: Please select the end year of your current degree/level of education 

Tip: Enter what year you will complete the current course you are studying at MK College. 

Q4: Average grade 

Tip: When applying for the prize draw, you will be asked for your grade point average. You will have to indicate the range in which your average mark falls, on a scale from 0 to 10. 

If your mark is on a different scale (for example, GCSE grades or Pass/Merit/Distinction), you will have to convert it. To help you calculate it, you can consult our table of equivalences

You should also consider the stage of your studies when answering the question: 

  • If you have finished your studies, indicate the final average mark of your degree. 
  • If you are currently studying, please indicate the average mark of the previous academic year. 
  • If this is your first year of studies, please indicate the final average mark of your previous studies.
