Course overview

This course provides you with a qualification in Sport & Exercise Science and is designed to equip you with practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and real-world experience for a career in sport, fitness, and wellbeing.

What will I do?

You will develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, designed to support your progression into the sport, fitness, and wellbeing industries.

You’ll also have the chance to work within our Football Academy or local sports clubs, gaining hands-on experience in a real-world setting.

What’s next?

This course provides a solid foundation for progression to the Level 5 Higher National Diploma (HND) in Sport & Exercise, a degree in areas such as Sport & Fitness Studies or Sport & Exercise Science, or entry into the workplace.

Entry requirements

One of the following:

  • A BTEC Level 3 qualification in Sport or Sport & Exercise Science
  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4/C or above, including English and Maths
  • Other relevant Level 3 qualifications considered
  • An Access to Higher Education Diploma awarded by an approved further education institution

You’ll be assessed through a variety of methods, including:

  • Written assignments
  • Presentations
  • Practical observations
  • Portfolios of work
  • Examinations

You’ll receive regular feedback through progress meetings.

This is a full-time course requiring 14 hours a week in college, typically over two full days and a half day. You’ll also need to commit to independent study and placements for approximately 20 hours per week.

You’ll have the chance to gain valuable work experience within our Football Academy, Basketball Academy, and with local sports clubs and coaching providers.

  • Trips to sport science lab facilities
  • Access to the latest performance analysis equipment and software
  • Use of sports facilities including gym, sports hall, and 3G astro
  • Hands-on experience supporting full-time football academy
