Many job roles involve interaction with customers, clients or colleagues to inform, advise or guide them, and there are many techniques it is important to be aware of in order to carry this out effectively.
This course aims to equip learners with the practical skills needed to successfully convey information, advice or guidance in a wide range of situations and sectors.
What will I do?
The course covers a variety of key topics crucial to providing an excellent and efficient service, including questioning, listening and communicating techniques, the importance of confidentiality and how to overcome barriers.
This course is split into five manageable units:
Unit 1: Information, advice or guidance in practice
Unit 2: Developing interaction skills for information, advice or guidance
Unit 3: Signposting and referral in information, advice or guidance
Unit 4: Information, advice or guidance in context
Unit 5: Skills for advice providers

How much will I have to study each week?
The course duration is 7 weeks and will requires approximately 4 – 6 hours of study per week plus the submission of 5 online assessments during the course. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme within the allocated timescale.
What kind of qualification is this?
Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in Information, Advice or Guidance is awarded by TQUK.
How will I be assessed?
This course requires the completion and passing of five short tutor marked online unit assessments. Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to offer support through the online learning platform.

Additional information
These courses are free for eligible applicants who successfully complete the course. A fee of £90 will be charged to learners who enrol onto the programme but do not complete the course.

Entry requirements
You must already hold a Level 1 or equivalent English qualification.
All applicants must be at least 19 years old as of the 31st of August to enrol for the course and have a good level of English skills to a minimum of Level One standard.
Applicants aged 19-23 are only eligible if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.
Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but do need to meet the required standard of English skills. Applicants must have lived in the UK for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of London, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, Tees Valley Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, West Midlands, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, West of England, Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland. Please contact providers in your local area for alternative options.
