Course overview

This short course introduces you to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is used in everyday life. You will learn what AI is, explore the legal and ethical issues around using it, and gain hands-on experience using AI tools to help you complete daily tasks more quickly and easily.

What will I do?

You will begin by learning the basics of AYou will learn the basics of AI, including its benefits and the ethical and legal considerations to be aware of.

You will then gain practical experience using Generative AI tools, such as Microsoft Copilot and ChatGPT, to improve productivity in daily life, including:

  • Creating written communications
  • Organising activities
  • Managing everyday tasks

Sessions are practical, supportive and easy to follow.

What’s next?

After completing this course, you may choose to build on your knowledge by progressing to a formal qualification, such as the BCS Foundation Certificate in Artificial Intelligence.

For some learners, this course will provide enough confidence to continue developing AI skills independently.

Is it for me?

This course is suitable for anyone who wants to understand what AI is and how it can be used safely and confidently to support day-to-day tasks. No prior knowledge of AI is needed.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but basic computer skills and the ability to use the internet are recommended.

Your tutor will monitor your progress through in-class observation, questions and practical activities.

You will attend for 3 hours per week over 3 weeks. There is no additional study required outside of class time.

There is no formal assessment for this course.
