MK College and Aiimi Collaboration
MK College and Aiimi Collaboration Boosts Tech Ecosystem in Milton Keynes
Innovative tech company Aiimi say their partnership with MK College is helping them build a tech ecosystem in the heart of Milton Keynes.
Aiimi launched their first apprenticeship programme with MK College in 2023 and since then the collaboration has gone from strength to strength. They currently have two software developer apprentices and an IT support apprentice in situ, with two new software developer apprentices joining later this year.
Natalie Gibbings, Head of Talent Acquisition at Aimii, explained more about how the partnership is helping Aiimi attract and retain digital talent – creating skilled opportunities for local students and supporting the Milton Keynes economy.
Aiimi works with multinationals across the globe and offers specialist data services including digital strategy consulting and enterprise ai solutions.
Natalie said, “The College invited us in to have a tour of the IoT and sit in on one of the lectures. We were blown away by what we saw. The energy and the environment were amazing. They have created a live working environment, where students can make mistakes and learn in a collaborative way, which is in line with our values.”
Speaking of their current apprentices, Natalie says they are exceeding expectations. “We’re really impressed by the two apprentices who joined us in September. What’s amazing is how MK College is helping to grow the economy here in MK. Both apprentices relocated here to start their programmes, and they are both career changers”
“With this collaboration we are able to open opportunities to local talent, which is fantastic and instead of heading to London, people are starting to choose MK to kickstart their career in Tech.”
Charlotte Richmond, Head of Employee Engagement & Wellbeing, said working with the College opened opportunities to a broader talent pool. She said, “We really want to make sure we are creating opportunities for everyone. The College’s inclusive environment brings in people of all ages and backgrounds.”
On working with MK College, Charlotte said the support has been great. “Their professionalism is amazing. I got training on all the systems to support our apprentices effectively and the lecturers have been great with support and quick feedback. You can see they genuinely care about their students and are passionate about what they do. I must give a shoutout to Caroline Indge who has been instrumental in our partnership.”
“We can have honest conversations and ensure everyone’s needs are met. It’s more than just an employer-training provider relationship; it’s a full collaboration. We’ve discussed potential future areas to explore, and nothing seems out of reach.”
When asked what advice they’d give to other businesses thinking of working with MK College, Natalie said, “My advice would be just do it! Visit the campus, meet the lecturers and experience it firsthand.”
