Is it for me?

Our A Level courses are perfect if you’re planning to go to university or work towards a specific career, as it gives you the skills and knowledge you’ll need. You can pick 3 subjects that interest you, and take part in activities like the Duke of Edinburgh Award, Scholars’ Programme, and Extended Project Qualification to boost your CV and future opportunities.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements may vary for each subject, so check the specific criteria for the courses you’re interested in.

Each week, you’ll have 4.5 hours of class per A Level and should spend at least 4.5 hours studying outside of class for each one. So, that’s a minimum of 16.5 hours of study time a week. If you’re in extra programs like the scholars’ programme, Latin, EPQ, or DofE, you could have around 23-25 hours of class and 13.5 hours of independent study on top of that.

You’ll be at college every day, with lessons starting at 9:00 AM and ending by 5:00 PM, though you might not have classes all day. If your lessons start later or finish early, you only need to be there when required unless you have support or catch-up sessions.

Your progress will be tracked through tests, essays, and assignments. Every half term, there’s a formal “assessment checkpoint” to see how you’re doing. You’ll also have trial exams, and your progress will be discussed with your teachers and Personal Tutor.

You’ll be assessed mainly through exams at the end of your second year, covering everything from both years. The exams can be long, up to 3 hours. Most A Levels don’t have coursework, except for a few like English, Media, and Computer Science. Criminology is different, as it has ongoing assessments.
