Milton Keynes College has hosted its ‘Welcome Events’ for its latest cohort of students, with a range of stands, stalls and activities to showcase what will be on offer for learners this academic year.

At both the Chaffron Way campus and South Central Institute of Technology (for students based at the Bletchley campus), students could talk to staff about the range of services on offer, such as Student Engagement, Wellbeing, LGBTQIA+ student group, Careers & Futures, Apprenticeships and Digital. Students could also find out more about the College’s Sports Clubs, Tabletop Games Club and how they can be involved in efforts to make the College more sustainable.

Plus, students were able to talk to representatives from a wide range of charities, local organisations and support services including iCaSH, MK ACT, Safer MK, MiND, YMCA Milton Keynes, Youth Mindset, Q: Alliance, MK Doughnut Economics, YDAS and Willen Hospice.

Jessica Frohawk-McLucas, Enrichment Co-ordinator at Milton Keynes College, said: “Starting college is a big step and it’s a very different environment from school, so we wanted to host our Welcome Events to help new learners feel welcomed into the College community. We also wanted to introduce our internal and external partnerships and services to our learners, fostering a sense of Belonging, developing Respect for the local community, and introducing our principle of Integrity.

“We’re delighted with the attendance at the Welcome Events, and are very grateful to colleagues across the College and those from partner organisations who took part. We’re excited about the new academic year and hope that our learners now feel more settled and know more about what life at the College has to offer in addition to their courses.”
