Course overview

Construction is everywhere and Milton Keynes is a hotspot for development. From housing, highways, warehousing and rail it is at the centre of the UK’s growing infrastructure, and you can be a part of it.

Construction is a lot more than just building, you are making homes for families, schools for children, hospitals for your community, and constantly improving and upgrading them as the industry develops.

What will I do?

From learning how to wire lighting and power circuits, understanding magnetism and alternating current theory, through to designing, testing and commissioning wiring systems, you will learn the ins and outs of the trade, during this electrical installations course; preparing you for a successful career.

Work experience will play a vital role in your progression during your electrical installations course, as you will have the opportunity to work on live projects out on site. We will support you to complete around 300 hours of work experience during the academic year, giving you valuable employability skills alongside your real site experience.

As well as getting out to work in the industry, you also will benefit from visits from professionals and trips to construction sites to see how different trades work together to complete projects.

What’s next?

At the end of your course you will have gained enough valuable work experience and industry contacts to kick off your career in the industry.

With a growing demand for trade skills, you could start your own business or you may decide to continue your studies, developing your skillset in your chosen industry. An apprenticeship might be the right option for you to further your education whilst earning a salary.

Our electrical installations courses are ideal for those who want to gain the knowledge and practical skills to progress onto an Electrotechnical Apprenticeship programme. Whatever you decide, we are here to help you with your next steps.

Is it for me?

Is working at a desk all day your nightmare? Electricians are always on the move, and no two days are the same. Being part of a trade which regularly updates its technologies and ways of working means that you must be ready to adapt and learn at every opportunity. This course will suit people who can think logically, are able to work under pressure and to the highest standards of health and safety.
