Dress Code
A dress code will be implemented within the school of Digital & Business for next academic year. This is following feedback from employers, inspectorate, and wider community that our learners are not dressed to demonstrate work-readiness within the classroom. This also supports our overall School strategic priority to make our classrooms more like office-style learning environments.
There is no uniform per se, but the dress code in summary, is smart casual. Very much like you would wear in an office environment either working in an IT department or within a Business functional area. The items of clothing that are no longer allowed are:
- Ripped Jeans
- Jogging Bottoms
- Crop Tops & Vest Tops
- Short Skirts
- Sportswear (e.g. sports shorts)
- Open-toed shoes/sandals.
Note: Outer wear (e.g. coats, hats, scarves, etc.) must be removed on entry to the classroom.
We appreciate this may create a financial burden for some, hence the reason for making you aware of this now. If you need financial support, please visit Funding & Bursaries for more info and apply early on.
There will be sanctions under our disciplinary code if this dress code is not followed through with and may create situations where learners will ask to head home and change if not coming to college dressed in a work-ready fashion.
The Requirement for Notebooks and Stationery
As of next year, classes will not always be held in a computer lab. This means that some classes you will be expected to work with traditional stationery.
Returning students will require to bring along the following to class with them as a bare minimum:
- A notebook – We recommend Project Notebooks.
- Pens and Pencils
Again, if financial support is required, please check out the bursary information on: Funding & Bursaries
