Outstanding result for Thames Valley Resettlement team

Following an inspection by HMPSS, the custody-based element of the Thames Valley Community Rehabilitation Company (TVCRC) has been judged as outstanding.

Inspectors commented: “We were particularly impressed with the work of the Through the Gate (TTG) team, which, following national changes to the specification of this work, is providing comprehensive support to those being released from prison.

“In casework, at the initial assessment stage, we found robust processes, routinely being used, to share information with police and other agencies in relation to child safeguarding and domestic abuse.”

Director of Resettlement Services for MKC Prison Services Gina Reilly said: “This outcome is a huge achievement and reflects all the hard work undertaken to make the implementation of enhanced services for prisoners a success.”

MKC’s Prison Services provide the custody-based element of the TVCRC resettlement work in HMP Springhill, HMP Bullingdon and HMP Woodhill, as well as rate card support for three other prisons in the area.

In the past year, the team has provided over 4,000 action plans for prisoners within the first five days and last 12 weeks of their sentences.
