CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management

What will I do?

This Level 5 qualification is based on the CIPD Profession Map, which taps into the cumulative insight of 19,000 experts. These insights combine with real-life scenarios, preparing you to make a real impact in the workplace.

The programme has 7 x modules covering professional skills and behaviours; organisational culture; analytics and evidence-based practice; the Employment relationship; Workforce Planning and Reward and Performance. There is also a specialist unit in Developing Leadership & Management on organisations.

Our next scheduled start is Tuesday 20th September 2022 and will run through till July 2023.

There may also be a course starting in January 2023 running through till December 2023 if there is enough demand so there are plenty of options for you to consider.

What’s next?

This programme leads to Associate Membership of CIPD and is the qualification of choice for employers and HR professionals who are building their career in HR management.

Your studies will lead you to theories, models and most importantly the how to apply them in the workplace.  It is a blend of academic/business focus and will provide a good base to enable you to move forward in your HR management and/or general management roles.

Following this and with relevant senior management experience you could progress to CIPD L7 Advanced Diploma in Strategic People Management.

Is it for me?

Our students are motivated, resilient, enthusiastic and have a passion for delivery of effective HR that contributes to business success.  You will be keen to learn, flexible in your approach as the delivery is blend of evening sessions, some full day workshops and the occasional Saturday morning.

In the current circumstances, classes may be on campus or delivered remotely using our TEAMS platform.  This gives all of us flexibility and options to continue to engage with our learning no matter what.

No exams!  Each of the 7 modules will be assessed by an assignment focused on the learning outcomes for the module. Typically, around 4,000 words it could be a written report/ briefing notes supported by a presentation/a case study.  Each module is different, and the assessment will reflect practical application of relevant theories and models

You will work with various tutors, each of whom has specialist experience in particular areas.  You will have regular 1:1s with tutors, at least one per term about your progress. Your written work is assessed by your tutor and you will receive constructive feedback to help you  develop your skills.

You will need to be sure you can commit the time for independent study outside of taught sessions, that will vary depending on your level of knowledge, but you should expect to be able to commit to at least same time for independent study as you spend in class

Most sessions are face to face at our Chaffron Way campus on Tuesday evenings between 5.15pm and 8.45pm.  Certain units are delivered online giving flexibility and the chance to develop digital learning skills too.

Networking and building relationships with likeminded people keen to share experience and knowledge Challenging the norms – your chance to do your bit to improve the working lives of people

There are no specific educational qualifications as such.  This is a L5 qualification which is equivalent to undergraduate level so you will need to be confident of writing academic/business assignments at that level.  We offer plenty of support to help you develop your skills, so no need to worry if that is something you have not done before.   If English is not your first language, you may need to demonstrate written and spoken skills at least at ESOL L3, and we may ask you to do a short-written test prior to you being offered a place.   What is more important is that you have relevant work experience in an HR role or in a general management role.

Your course fees do not include your student membership of CIPD which is mandatory for everyone studying CIPD qualifications.  If you are not already in membership and your subscription up to date, you will need to pay this directly to CIPD shortly after your course commences.  The amount may vary depending on your circumstances, but you should budget for approx. £185
