What will I do?

Although there are many different illnesses which can be experienced during childhood, there are several which are common to many babies and children.

This course is split into 3 manageable units:

Unit 1: Understand how to provide a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children

Unit 2: Understand Common Childhood Illnesses and

Unit 3: Understand health emergencies and specific health conditions in an early year setting

By undertaking this course, you will gain formal recognition by obtaining a nationally recognised qualification. This will enable you to further your own continuous professional development, which could support you in improving your career prospects. You can also progress onto further qualifications.

Is it for me?

This course is suitable for learners who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of common childhood illnesses. It is particularly suited to those working within an early years setting. You must already hold a L1 or equivalent English qualification.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

All applicants must be at least 19 years of age to enrol for the course and have a good level of English skills to a minimum of Level One standard.

Applicants aged 19-23 are only eligible if they have already achieved a full Level 2 qualification or equivalent. Please contact us for clarification if required.

Applicants aged 24+ do not require any prior academic qualifications, but do need to meet the required standard of English skills. Applicants must have lived in the UK for the last three years, currently reside in England, with a postcode outside of London, Greater Manchester, Greater London, Liverpool, Tees Valley Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, West Midlands, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Wets of England, Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland. This course is only Fully Funded if you are over 19 years old, have been living in the UK for 3 years or more, and are not from a devolved area (e.g. Greater Manchester, Liverpool, West of England, West Midlands, Tees Valley, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Newcastle Upon Tyne, North Tyneside and Northumberland, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, London or Greater London).

HOW MUCH WILL I HAVE TO STUDY EACH WEEK?

The course duration is 6 weeks and will requires approximately 4-6 hours of study per week plus the submission of 3 online assessments during the course. Course start dates are flexible, but learners are expected to successfully complete the programme within the allocated timescale.

WHAT KIND OF QUALIFICATION IS THIS?

Learners will receive a nationally recognised qualification by successfully completing this course. The Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses is awarded by TQUK.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

This course requires the completion and passing of three tutor marked online unit assessments.  Learners are allocated a course tutor who will mark assessments and are able to be contacted through the online learning platform.

Additional Information

These courses are free for eligible applicants who successfully complete the course. A fee of £90 will be charged to learners who enrol onto the programme but do not complete the course.
