What will I do?

By the end of your training you will be able to

  • Explore an identified market, to define the concept for a game, based on research and analysis
  • Plan the development of a functional game prototype
  • Develop a functional game prototype using industry-standard tools and techniques, based on a defined project development plan and game design document
  • Review the principles, techniques and practice of video game development, project planning and use of industry-standard tools.

After this course, you can continue onto other short courses in our suite or explore our HNC and HND courses.

When will I learn?

Live sessions for the short course for 2021/22 will be delivered during the evening over 15-weeks consecutively. Lifestyle Learning and remote sessions will be made available if required.

DO I NEED TO PURCHASE ANYTHING?

No – nothing beforehand. We encourage Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) so you’re welcome to bring your own laptop. You will have access to computers but your own device is preferred where possible. We also provide text books.

HOW MUCH WILL I HAVE TO STUDY EACH WEEK?

It is recommended that students should find up to 2.5 hours a week to practise their skills. This time isn’t timetabled and it’s up to you how much you study.

HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE MONITORED?

Staff are highly supportive and will feedback throughout the course to keep check on progress. There is a variety of formative assessment techniques used including quizzes and checking for learning.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

There will be lots of practical observation. There will be no assignments or exams.
