T Level: Building Services Engineering – Electrical Installation
INTRODUCTION
T Levels are new courses which will follow GCSEs and will be equivalent to three A Levels. These two-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses so that the content meets the needs of industry and prepares you for work.
Please note: T Levels are only available for students that will be 16-18 whilst studying the qualification.
What will I do?
You will have four days in college and 1 day in an industry placement. 4 to 6 hours of homework per week is also advised.
- The course has been designed by a panel of employers and professional bodies to meet the same standards as those used for apprenticeships.
- Work experience with local employers will enhance practical knowledge.
- Employers will provide demonstrations and talks on the industry.
- Some additional certificates will be available – provided by external providers.
What’s next?
This qualification focuses on the development of knowledge and skills needed for working in the BSE industry, which will prepare you to enter the industry through employment or as an Apprentice.
Furthermore, the completion of this qualification gives you the opportunity to progress onto higher education courses and training.
Is it for me?
This qualification is for you if you are a 16-19-year-old learner, who wishes to work within the Building Services Engineering Industry as an Electrician.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
5 GSCE’s at grade 4 or above. Must include Maths, English and Science
How will my progress be monitored?
Staff will monitor progress and have 1:1 meetings with each learner. Progress will be monitored and targets will be set. Learners will also have progress reviews during work experience by both college staff and the employer.
How will I be assessed?
Two externally set exams – covering knowledge from the building services engineering core
One employer-set project covering knowledge and skills from the building services engineering core
One externally set practical assignment
work experience and employers
350 hrs of mandatory work experience required to pass the course.
