What will I do?
From learning how to carry out first and second fixing operations to gaining knowledge of building methods and construction technology, you will learn the ins and outs of the wider industry, preparing you for employment.
Work experience will play a vital role, giving you the opportunities to develop your skills in real life situations. Learning from experienced lecturers, you will benefit from visiting industry professionals, receive personal one-to-one tutorials and participate in project work where you will take on different roles.
At the end of your course you will have gained enough valuable work experience and industry contacts to kick off your career in the industry. If you have ever thought about starting your own carpentry business, you could also continue your studies, developing your skillset in the construction trade.
Is it for me?
Do you prefer working with your hands rather than sat at a desk all day? There’s no denying that a career in this industry is primarily physical, however there are excellent progression opportunities within management and leadership too. You must be a logical thinker, a good problem-solver and a team player. Health and safety is extremely important in the carpentry trade, so you must remain professional at all times.
