Fine Art Practice HNC
This course is for those who want to further their career as a Artist or Designer. This course offers a strong sector-related emphasis on your specialism and its refinement alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding of the subject and its relation to the creative arts industry. Similarly this is a pathway for those looking to progress onto a Higher National Diploma.
What will I do?
Discover your specialism in painting, drawing, sculpture, printmaking, graphic design, contextual studies, photography and video. You will have access to industry experts and ‘live’ clients through established partnerships. Our dedicated work studio space will be available for you to build an innovative portfolio of work ready to gain employment or progress to the Level 5 HND in Art Practice.

Upon successful completion, you could top-up your HNC to a HND, a level 5 Higher National Diploma in Fine Art and Business Practice. You will also be able to consider employment in a fine arts-related field, including work as a practicing artist or at a gallery. Fine Art graduates are also well-equipped to move into business-related fields, such as advertising and marketing, as the skills you would’ve gained are entirely transferable. Possible sectors that can offer employment with this qualification:

ARE THERE ANY ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
You require 96 UCAS tariff points and GCSEs at grade C/4 in English & Maths.
Mature students without these formal qualifications are welcome to apply; acceptance onto the course will be subject to a portfolio interview.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
Students are continually assessed throughout the course through set project work and tutorials, structured feedback and critical appraisal. You will be graded for the units covered for each project which provides you with a continuing log of progress.
HOW WILL MY PROGRESS BE MONITORED?
Student progress is monitored through regular one-to-one tutorials and assessment of project work. You will also have a Personal Tutor who will support you with your studies.

How much will I study each week?
The part time HNC is available over 2 years to fit in with your other commitments, such as family and work. This will consist of I day and I evening per week.
