What will I do?

You will develop your skills in double entry bookkeeping and gain a grasp of management and administrative processes. You’ll learn how to use manual and computerised accounting systems and how to work with purchase, sales and general ledgers.

Once you’ve completed this course, you’ll be awarded the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting. There is an option just to study the bookkeeping qualification.

What’s next?

Once you have achieved your AAT Level 2 Certificate, you can seek employment in an area of accountancy and progress to the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting (subject to meeting college entry criteria), which can also be undertaken on a part-time basis. On achieving the whole AAT qualification to level 4 you may wish to continue studying to take one of the chartered accounting institute exams such as CIMA or ACCA.

Is it for me?

Are you interested in starting a career in accounting and finance? Perhaps you are someone who just wants to get a solid foundation in understanding accounting principles and practical application of accounting to help you get started in business?

The AAT Accounting qualification proves to future employers that you have accountancy expertise and skills to turn theory into practice. It is recognised throughout the world as a sign of your talent and effectiveness.

You will complete progress tests throughout your course. Your tutors will be there to support you along the way particularly as you approach an assessment date.

You will attend classes for about 5 hours a week, and may be studying about 4-6 hours a week outside of the classroom. This may increase around exam time.
