Eight Reasons Why We Love Our Colleges
If you’re on any form of social media (which, let’s be honest, we all are), it would’ve been impossible to miss the fact that last week (15 – 19 October) was #LoveOurColleges week.
The week was filled with campaign activity to highlight the brilliant work that goes on in colleges across the country, and the staff that dedicate their time and hard work to make it all a possibility. The week also focused on calling upon the government to issue more funding and support to further education, ensuring that every student gets an equal opportunity at a quality education and experience.
Over the last decade, colleges have had to deal with an average 30% funding cut, whilst costs have increased dramatically. The situation we’re facing is unsustainable and has a hugely negative impact on students, communities, businesses and the economy. There is currently a petition running to call upon our government to increase college funding. Every signature counts, so get signing!
To celebrate and commemorate the week, we asked our staff, students and partners to tell us what they love about colleges. We also sort of just wanted to blow our own trumpet, so to speak. Here’s what they said!
